Three members of the CMS, Dorit Sivan, Avner Raban and Michal Artzy took active part in the bi-institutional symposium which was hosted by the University of Ankara in Antalya Turkey, in October. A. Raban presented a paper entitled: "Archaeological evidence of early sea-borne connections in the Mediterranean". A paper entitled: "Holocene sea-level changes along the Mediterranean coast of Israel and the Aegean coast of Turkey, compared to data from other Mediterranean coasts" was presented by Dorit Sivan. Michal Artzy presented a paper entitled: "Pithos burials at the end of the late Bronze Age".
Hayat Erkanal and Michal Artzy discussed the subject of possible future research projects between the University of Ankara and the University of Haifa, following the agreement for cooperation signed between the two universities in September 1998.
